DanceAbility!
Dance and Movement Improvisation Classes for all abilities
Come and learn new skills and have fun in a supportive environment!
What is it?
DanceAbility is the study of movement improvisation.Workshops and performances have been held around the world, for both children and adults, supporting or helping establish many dance groups.
Dancers of all levels from absolute beginners to professionals learn to recognise and follow their own desires in moving and relating, rather than following prescribed movements.
ALL BODIES HAVE BOTH ABILITIES AND LIMITATIONS BUT NEITHER DEFINES A PERSON'S POTENTIAL FOR DANCING.
The intention of DanceAbility is to work with all people in the study of dance and movement improvisation and to bring more diversity, equality and self-empowerment into contemporary dance.
Who teaches it?
Jenni Malarkey graduated from Dartington College of Arts where she studied devised theatre, composition, dance, critical theory and arts management.
Following her degree she completed a DanceAbility teacher-training course in Germany, where she learnt about inclusion within contemporary dance/movement/theatre and developed the skills required for teaching within an inclusive environment.
Jenni has taught many dance, movement and theatre workshops in a variety of different settings and has gained certificates in first aid at work and health and safety, and holds an up to date CRB.
